Downtown Orthopedics has conducted a general orthopedic practice in downtown Minneapolis since 1968. Our services include trauma, spine, adult reconstruction, joint replacement, and arthroscopy. A Board Certified orthopedic surgeon is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Patient appointments are scheduled primarily in the afternoons with some morning time available.
Dr. Robert Wengler and Dr. Michael Wengler are Board Certified Orthopedics Surgeons. We have a personable well trained professional office staff the size of which lends itself to a close patient/physician/staff relationship.
Our primary admitting hospital is Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, although our physicians have privileges at other Minneapolis area hospitals. We participate with most health plans including Medica, HealthPartners, UCare, Preferred One, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, Medicare, MN Health Care Programs (MNCare), Metropolitan Health Plan, and Select Care (some require referrals from primary clinic). We accept and treat patients with worker's compensation, auto accident, and personal injuries. We also perform Independent Medical Evaluations.
Referrals are accepted from physicians, hospitals, emergency rooms, current and former patients, insurance companies, PPO’s, managed care plans, employers, attorneys, and independent appointment agencies. We make every effort to verify the patient’s insurance coverage and to obtain appropriate referral/authorization for the initial visit and subsequent diagnostics or treatment if required.
Our patients are made to understand a covenant exists between them and our office and that our responsibility is and always will be to them as patients. It is this relationship that has led to strong patient loyalty over the years and will serve as a basis of the same for years to come. Patients are dealt with directly and openly at all times. Second opinions are arranged if necessary or requested. Appropriate monitoring systems are implemented as necessary.
We are committed to the conservative management of orthopedic problems. When surgical considerations seem appropriate all aspects of the procedure, anticipated benefits and potential complications are discussed with the patient, family, and other authorized parties. Every possible consideration is given to minimally invasive procedures. We appreciate and welcome requests for second surgical opinions and provide access to our records and test results to the designated consultants. We provide written and, if necessary, verbal communication with referring physicians and coordinate treatment plans as necessary and appropriate. |
